King Salmon Fishing
King salmon fishing on the Kenai River, the king salmon don't get any bigger and fishing doesn't get any better!  Soldotna B&B Lodge and Alaska Fishing Charters can be your next destination for a king, red, or silver salmon fishing tour or vacation.  Soldotna B&B Lodge and Alaska Fishing Charters is located directly on the Kenai River.  Our lodge has over 300 feet of private River frontage with a private dock for launching our King salmon fishing tours.  We also offer King, red, and silver salmon fishing tours in drift boats on the Kasilof River. King, red, silver salmon fishing tours can last from 6 hours to 12 hours long.  As part of all of our tours, Soldotna B&B Lodge and Alaska Fishing Charters provides only professional, experienced guides.  All bait and tackle is included.  Also, filleting, vacuum packing, and freezing of your salmon caught on your tour is also included.  Soldotna B&B Lodge and Alaska Fishing Charters also includes complementary use of rain gear and hip boots as necessary for our tours.

Fishing King Salmon Now

There are several techniques used to catch king salmon and most guides specialize in one method but will often use more than one technique if necessary.  The three most popular techniques are: back-bouncing (basically, bottom fishing) hooks baited with either King salmon eggs, back-trolling banana shaped plugs (Qwikfish) baited with herring or without, and back-trolling Spin-n-Glo lures (basically, a propeller which spins in the current connected to a hook) baited with King salmon eggs. The technique not only depends upon the guide, it also depends upon: water conditions, tidal conditions, location on the River, time of day, etc.

Although fly-fishing is also an option for King salmon, neither the Kenai nor the Kasilof are the best places to do so.  It is best to have clear water for this option.

Lodge Wilderness: The Lodge Wilderness Package combines the variety, comfort and fun of our Deluxe Lodge Fishing program with the incredible flight-seeing, nature viewing and wilderness experience that is Bear Camp. Even the most hard-core anglers have proclaimed this as the trip perfect for families, couples and groups that want more than just great fishing.

The Executive Trip: specifically designed to provide maximum adventure and fishing in only four days. Air transfers, full days of Salmon, Halibut and Trout, and a flight to our Bear Camp are all packed into four days of action. So if you have a short time but still want to do it all- This is the trip!

Fly Fishing Trip: Like all fly fishing lodges, we know fly-fishermen expect in a trip. Your days will be spent by fishing streams (unless you ask to take a break with some river boat Salmon charters), while your evenings will continue the-casting on our record-breaking beach. We select only prime times for this trip and your daily excursions will target Silvers, Steelhead, Char and large Rainbow Trout with guides and anglers who share your love of by fishing.

Outback Angler: Based out of our comfortable riverside tent camp, “The Wadefisher” combines the Kenai Peninsula’s best wade fishing with powerboat and Driftboat charters for world-record Kings, Silvers or Sockeye salmon (in season). Located on the edge of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, our boat-in camp is a unique, affordable and fun way to experience Alaska’s most diverse and productive sportfishing region. Rate includes complementary Anchorage pickup, all meals and necessary equipment (conventional tackle). The camp has comfortable high wall tents with propane heat, mini-decks and a cozy day-lodge for fly tying, reading or just getting out of the occasional rain shower! A Remarkable value.
